The best kind of ‘Made in China’ – a bijou local operation keeping the age-old tradition of artisanal porcelain alive.
It was a true delight to discover Asianera, meticulously making everything in-house, from design to moulding, firing and hand-painting the delicate crockery… So little wonder it’s been one of our firm faves since the earliest editions of the LUXE Shanghai guide!
The elegant pieces with a classic slant in the Asianera range are adorned with gorgeously luminous ‘Asian fusion’ patterns. Fish swim, butterflies flit and birds fly across dinner and side plates, cups and saucers, while flowers, trees and ornaments adorn bowls, teapots and vases. The Lian collection features specially commissioned designs by up-and-coming designers and artists from China and abroad, while AE2 line features smart, cosmo-chic styles that won’t break the bank.
In the unlikely event that you don’t find what you’re looking for in their boutique in 1933 (itself a striking Bauhaus edifice), custom service is available, whether it’s tweaking colourways to match hubby’s favourite boxers, or creating a brand new design from scratch. Neat!
