It’s all about brews and blooms at this florid inner-city cafe.
Fancy a cuppa? Well, that’s hardly a tall order in Tokyo, a city famed for its cha, but for something a little more unusual why not pop by the Aoyama Flower Market Tea House?
With branches all over the city, Aoyama Flower Market is a wannabe Tokyo Romeo’s convenient one-stop floral persuasion shop. But in Minami Aoyama, what from the outside appears to be your typical AFM branch bursting with shiny leaves and luxuriant blooms, reveals inside an idyllic little tea shop seemingly modelled on the overgrown greenhouse at the bottom of your granny’s garden – dripping with creepers, hanging plants, and vibrant blossoms.
The tea selection matches the curious surrounds with rare brews like dandelion, apple mint, and rosemary served in pretty glass teapots, and light bites like cinnamon-crusted French toast or fresh-baked English scones.
So come for the tea, stay for the nibbles, and leave with an armful of the most dreamy petals and bulbs around. Bloomin’ marvellous, we say!
