Grab a cuppa at Kuppa, the perennially popular, relaxed brunch and java joint run by local gal (and self-confessed coffee-addict) Robin. The airy wood ’n’ metal semi-open space is dominated by a roaster, plus there’s a gallery and puds galore. Sprogs can enjoy a fresh fruit juice, milkshake or smoothie; frazzled parents might want to sip one of the excellent wines…
Attracting an expat clientele, Cafe Tartine, a light, bustling Gallic honeypot serving croques, quiches and mix-your-own salads. Bread, cakes and pastries are baked on site daily; there’s also a delicious array of sandwiches, salads, soups and homemade dressings – plus that fragrant rotisserie chicken. The kids’ menu is good enough to satisfy even the fussiest of eaters. Book ahead on weekends.
Cue our favourite horned emoji: Unicorn Cafe is a candy-coloured palace inspired by My Little Pony. This fun-loving wonderland doesn’t stint on kawaii, but if you can stomach the Pepto-Bismol-pink interiors, you’ll be rewarded with delicious sweet treats (pastel-pretty ones, but natch). Throw dignity to the wind and pose with a cuddly unicorn…
Little Pea Commons is a friendly community space replete with a tots-tailored menu courtesy of the gourmet gang behind Roast. Your nippers can also pick up some new life skills thanks to the Little Lifehackers sessions; there’s also a drop-in art and play space and a studio room stocked with toys and scheduled activities. Forward-thinking.
