EVA Air introduces flights to nowhere this holiday season for singles ready to mingle
At one point or another, we’ve all likely fantasised about meeting a mile-high cutie in the air. After all, who doesn’t like the sound of a chance romantic encounter high above the clouds?
Well, this holiday season, Taiwan’s largest airline EVA Air has partnered up with experience company Mobius International for what we hope will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for its participants. Called “Fly! Love is in the Air," the airline's latest flights to nowhere take place on Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with matchmaking in mind.
“When single men and women travel, apart from enjoying the fun in travel, they may wish to meet someone, like a scene in a romantic movie,” a spokesperson for Mobius told CNN. The requirements? All passengers must be within a certain age range (men between 28 and 38 years old and women between 24 and 35), have obtained a university degree and, most importantly, be single.
With just 20 men and 20 women on board (plus the cabin crew), the bachelors and bachelorettes will have three hours in air to get to know one another, plus a further two hours of ‘romantic date time’ on the ground to try and keep the flames alive.
Sat next to a total bore? Not to worry. Singles are free to roam the cabin and mingle with others — after the captain has turned off the seat belt signs, that is. Otherwise, turn your attention to the beautiful scenery outside featuring panoramic views of the Ryukyu Islands and nearby mountain ranges.
Tickets for the Christmas edition of “Fly! Love is in the Air" are already sold out, so you'll have to find someone else to kiss under the mistletoe. As for New Year's Eve and New Year's, tickets are still available at US$295 each, though it could be argued that the possibility of meeting your future soulmate in such a unique fashion is priceless.
