Chill Skybar, HCMC: Lofty Libations

Saigon has been hard at it developing a cosmo slink-and-drink set, with lofty ambitions of giving Southeast Asian scene queen Bangkok a run for her money.

And taking aforesaid ambition quite literally is Vietnam’s first ever open air high-rise imbiber, Chill Skybar. A quick zip up from the non-stop street bustle of downtown, this sleek bi-level restobar-lounge is the ultimate sip and sup spot for the newly minted.

Out on the patio is the centrepiece bar, complete with spectacular panoramas, perfect for sundowners and post-prandies, or if you’re Hank Marvin, grab a table on the terrace for global bites, including seafood and wood-fired steaks. Come 10pm, it’s time to climb higher still to the upstairs lounge with more 360° views, outdoor cigar terrace, a few intimate nooks, and a resident DJ spinning tracks into the night. Just be sure to look sharp – there’s a smart-casj dress code for gents after 6pm – no singlets, shorts or sandals. After all, sub-tropical weather’s no excuse for looking like a scraggy backpacker.
