Part-grunge, part-glitz, Kuala Lumpur is an ultra-mod city that draws in the 'Crazy Rich Asians' crowd — look for the Ferraris out front and stylistas strutting in the latest Jimmy Choos – plus avid foodies from around the world. This tropical jungle escape is ever-changing, so here are the newest openings to eat, drink and bed down at.

The Chow Kit
Elegant 86-room sleeper plays host to subtle Malay touches, with sublime prints, deep velveteen pews and dark mahogany furnishings for a Wes Anderson-worthy romantic elegance. Interiors are reminiscent of some of New York's finest boutique hotels, which makes sense when you realise they were put together by Brooklyn-based Studio Tack. This stylin' ode to mid-century and 1970s design is surrounded by stellar shops, sips, and sups.
Tip: Dine at The Chow Kit Kitchen, the latest conceptual incarnation from Christian Bauer and Eddie Chew of Troika Sky Dining.
