Sleeping in the Lion City just got more stylish. Bed down!
J.W Marriott South Beach
The attention-seeking love child of starchitect Norman Foster and design doyen Philippe Starck, The South Beach is an audacious, catch-your-breath mash up of colonial heritage and towering modernity. Home to 654 glassy, white n’ light chandeliered rooms and suites, this is one statement gal. There are two vertigo-inducing sky gardens with pools, a gym and bar complete with retro table games plus more F&B in the pipeline, but it’s the 18th-floor Sing skyline panos that really wow.

Hotel Vagabond
Seeking something more intimate? Hotfoot it to Arab nabe Kampong Glam, where Jacques Garcia designed Hôtel Vagabond swaggers with crimson velvety opulence. 41 boudoirs are lavishly appointed in dark wood, rich chenille, Italian marble, with designer art and hand-painted floral screen accents. Aerie Terrace rooms are quieter but with shared patios, you might have to befriend your neighbour.
In-house Restaurant Vagabond channels Parisian salons of yore with its sultry, OTT good looks and risqué attitude; it also boasts a rotating artist in residence program, plush movie screening room and live performances spanning jazz and indie music to stand-up comedy. On the plate, expect modern interpretations of Singaporean and global faves, accompanied with craft tipples from the bar. Vagabond is a decadent, pleasure-seeking social desti with rooms on the side – just be sure to book ahead if you plan to stay the night.
