L’Hotel, Paris: Left Bank Lovely

A seamless extension of its quirky and character-packed surroundings, Left Bank boutique beauty L’Hotel has been called home (albeit briefly) by some of society’s most illustrious figures since the 1890s.

We’re not usually the name-dropping type, however we believe it our duty to inform you that Taylor, Sinatra, and Dali have all paid their dues here, and the hotel even houses the very boudoir where Oscar Wilde spent his final days. How’s that for history?

Each of the 20 luxurious suites is unique in furnishing and personality, but there is indeed an air of decadence that permeates the entire space, with gold mirrors, glittering chandeliers and more trompe l’oeil than the eye can see. Reserve the pool privé for a cheeky tryst with Napoleon, or empty his pockets at the camp and comfy restaurant. Last but certainly not least, take tipples at the atmossy L’Hotel bar, a slink-a-dink drinker that’s perfect for clandestine pre- and post-prandials among the elite art set. Sultry!
