Bangkok has no shortage of luxury hotels, but if you’re after something different, edgy yet undeniably luxury, head to the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok. This sophisticated, urban resort feels less like a trad luxury hotel and more like a chic, leafy neighbourhood hangout—with an exceptional eye for design, excellent taste in food, serious passion for wellness, and a rep for throwing the best parties in town.
Location
Nestled in the embassy-dotted enclave of Langsuan, Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok sits on the edge of Lumphini Park, making it a prime spot for those who want to balance the city’s chaotic energy with serene greenery.

Connected to the BTS station by complimentary tuk tuk rides, the nearest BTS Skytrain stations (Chit Lom and Phloen Chit) are about a 10–15 minute walk away, while Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airport is roughly a 40-minute drive (depending on the infamous Bangkok traffic, of course).
Checking In
You’ll feel the buzz right away from the lobby of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok—a vibrant, open-plan space with plenty of natural light and greenery, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Maa-Lai Forest garden.

The check-in experience is characteristically Kimpton: relaxed, personal, and done comfortably seated with a welcome drink and refreshing wet towel in hand. The friendly staff—clad in stylish, contemporary uniforms—exuded a genuine warmth that instantly made us feel at home and set the tone for the stay.
LUXE tip: Don’t miss the hotel’s social evening “Social Hour” from 5-6pm by the pool where guests can mingle over complimentary house wines, cocktails and soft drinks—a quintessential Kimpton touch.
Rooms and Suites
The 360 rooms and suites (including 97 residences) are among the largest in the city, starting at a sprawling 50 square metres. Designed to feel like a private apartment, the space is anchored by a stunning central bathroom concept—a marble-clad “floating” vanity that separates the sleeping area from the walk-in shower and soaking tub, allowing for an open-plan feel that can be closed off with sliding doors when privacy is needed.

Our giant Maa-Lai Suite overlooked the hotel’s serene Maa-Lai Forest garden and the distant treetops of Lumphini Park, with a soothing colour palette of soft neutrals, natural timbers, and pops of vibrant Thai silk. The bed was a cloud-like cocoon, and the tech is intuitive, with discreet USB ports and smart controls.
We loved the fact that there was a desk tucked away behind a wall, making it perfect for working and taking conference calls from. It was even topped with an edible Scrabble board scattered with chocolate truffles on top as a sweet welcome gift, another example of the Kimpton’s quirky personality.

A spacious bathroom is always a luxury, and the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok more than delivered. We loved the deep, standalone tub perfect for a long soak, the rainforest shower with strong pressure, double vanities with plenty of counter space, and full-sized, custom-crafted eco-friendly bath products.
LUXE tip: Be sure to don the custom-designed kimono at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok to capture that statement IG photo—if you know, you know.
Dining
Kimpton Maa-Lai is legit a destination in its own right, and not just because of their annual Chilli Fest, which brings together the country’s top chefs and their spiciest creations. The chilli-eating contest draws spice-loving daredevils from the world over who are willing to endure the burn for the chance to win cold, hard cash (THB) or a one-night stay at the hotel.
Chilli Fest aside, the hotel is a true foodie hub with five (count ’em) F&B venues, all of which are buzzing with both in-house guests and chic Bangkok locals:
- Stock.Room: Start your day at this all-day dining venue where the breakfast spread here is legendary—think made-to-order eggs with premium ingredients, a dedicated Thai street food station, fresh coconut water, cold cuts, Korean corner, Middle Eastern delights, Japanese station, fully-stocked shelves of cheese and fruit, and pastries up to your eyeballs. You can also order a la carte items to go along with your buffet, not to mention expertly made cups of Joe.
- Ms. Jigger: Dig into authentic pizzas and pastas at Ms. Jigger, which has delicious set menus, afternoon tea and aperitivo hour with free-flow options and small plates to share.
- Ruby’s: One of Bangkok’s most celebrated bars, this award-winning cocktail den has just 16 seats and cocktails inspired by gemology and precious stones. The cocktails are theatrical, masterfully crafted, and best enjoyed with a side of their excellent bar snacks.
- CRAFT: For a more casual affair, this deli and café on the ground floor is perfect for a light lunch, freshly baked pastries, or a coffee crafted by their in-house roasters. We loved the salmon salad and smoothie bowls—a healthy alternative if you’re looking to work on your wellness.
- Bar.Yard: Perched on the 40th floor of the hotel, this vibrant and colourful rooftop bar means you won’t have to travel far to get to party central (or your bed afterwards, for that matter). Not only will you enjoy crazy views of Bangkok from above, but the menu is absolutely kickin’ with Peruvian chef Julio César Concha Muñoz’s Pan-Latin x Thai creations alongside a strong and creative drinks menu.

Wellness
Wellness is huge at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, and we’re not just talking about the massive 24/7 gym with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, its own yoga studio, and even a dedicated boxing ring. They happen to be the first hotel in Thailand to join the HYROX network, and have plenty of daily classes you can join including HIIT, yoga, Thai boxing, HYROX and more to get your sweat on.

On the same floor is the hotel’s 20-metre infinity pool, which is surrounded by daybeds and cabanas and plenty of options for sun and shade. This social yet serene spot felt like a tropical oasis, with views of the city skyline rising above the lush trees.

For some well-deserved pampering, there’s the gorgeous amaranth spa onsite for spa and wellness treatments such as massages, facials, scrubs, mani pedis and more. We absolutely loved the egg-white and magenta colour palette, not to mention the calming lavender kimonos we donned before and after our blissful massages.

Post-massage, we enjoyed tea and dried fruits in the relaxation room, lying on comfy lounge sofas divided by string curtains and enjoying the greenery views outside.
What else
Pets of all kinds are very welcome at the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok with no extra charges at all, and it was lovely to see all the furry friends in and around the property.
To keep everyone happy, the hotel has a clear ‘Pet Patrol Policy’ with rules including no loud noise (read: barking), no furbabies at bars, and owners having to keep them leashed at all times to ensure that the experience is ‘paws-itive’ all around.
Verdict
Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok is more than just a hotel; it’s a contempo lifestyle hub for both Bangkok visitors and residents alike.
Sophisticated yet relaxed, urban yet green, and deeply connected to its neighbourhood, it shines with its premium location in Langsuan, impressive wellness facilities, vibrant F&B options, plenty of fun events and its friendly, genuine, and down-to-earth staff.
