LUXE Checks Into… Lanson Place Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Most people walk by Lanson Place Causeway Bay without ever knowing what it is, and to be honest, some probably want to keep it that way. But, all good things should be shared (even if they’re one of Hong Kong’s best-kept secrets), and this boutique luxury hotel that’s slightly off the beaten path is certainly one of them.

But, Lanson Place definitely won’t be a secret for long, given that it’s reopened in March 2024 after an extensive and magnificent renovation –and is now welcoming guests into its cosy rooms and suites.

Location

Situated between Causeway Bay – just steps away from business and retail haven, Lee Gardens – Lanson Place is located on a quiet street with plenty of hip eateries nearby. The eclectic neighbourhood of Tai Hang is also just a few minutes walk away, giving guests access to both the usual tourist and yet, more local must-sees in the area.

LUXE tip: Cross the street and join the queue for Hong Kong egg waffle mecca Mammy Pancake and the matcha soft-serve maestros at Via Tokyo.

Rooms and suites

With 188 rooms and suites, including six penthouses, Lanson Place offers a cosy, homey place for both leisure and business travellers to explore the city from.

Designed by legendary French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, all rooms feature a single soft pastel tone, such as ocean blue, sage green and sunshine yellow, with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out towards Causeway Bay’s cityscape whilst letting plenty of natural light in.

All rooms are also thoughtfully designed for work, rest and entertaining, with a mini pantry, television and all the technology you need to stay connected.

Dining

A semi-buffet breakfast is served on the first-floor Salon Lanson, which is open all-day for guests to enjoy lunch, dinner and cocktails in the evening too. The sprawling space is as cosy as the rooms themselves with plenty of cushy spots to sit and enjoy the serenity of Lanson Place without feeling crowded at all. Service can be slow at times, but all the more reason to enjoy your time in the space.

Choose from a mix of Asian and Western dishes paired with wine and signature cocktails themed after different Hong Kong landmarks, such as the Leighton 133 (named after Lanson Place’s address). Each signature cocktail even comes with a postcard with a corresponding street scene, emphasising the hotel’s unique and close connection with the local neighbourhood.

Facilities

Fitness buffs will love the gym and wellness area on the hotel’s fifth floor, which features a wide range of cardio and weight machines spread across the floor – plus a spacious studio for yoga, pilates, and/or stretching.

What else

For busy travellers on the go, Lanson Place offers a grab-and-go station on the ground floor with takeaway coffee and Bakehouse’s famed sourdough egg tarts (minus the queues!), no less. There are also laundry facilities on the same floor as the gym for those staying on the road for longer.

Verdict

With its unique location in Causeway Bay and uber-cosy rooms and suites, Lanson Place is the perfect home-away-from-home for business and leisure travellers who love immersing themselves in the local neighbourhood without compromising on luxury.
