LUXE Reviews: Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang

The LUXE Lowdown: Towering above the beach with ‘suite’ views of the ocean, this wellness-inclusive resort offers a mix of apartment-style suites and one- to five-bedroom private villas right on the glittering coast between Da Nang and Hoi An.

Location

Spread over 15 hectares, Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang is a swift 20-minute drive from Da Nang International Airport and boasts a prime spot right on the coastline. Just 30 minutes away by car from both Da Nang and Hoi An, it’s one of the most convenient bases to explore the area from without having to sit through a long drive.

Suites and villas

Built to accommodate any size of travel group (from solo travellers to multi-generational families), the 197 suites in the tower building start at 60 square metres with your choice of garden/golf course or ocean views. Choose from one-, two- and three-bedroom options for even more space, while some suites even have their own private plunge pools in them for a relaxing dip high above the beach.

Our Ocean View Pool King Suite was extra special in that the plunge pool was not only massive, but accessible through the bathroom and under direct sunlight – complete with bean bag loungers and patio furniture for soaking up the view. The room also has a covered balcony with front-row seats to the beach, offering another spot for capturing those memories. Tip: be sure to wake up early to catch the sunrise from your balcony or private pool.

Down on the ground, Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang has 85 one- to five-bedroom private pool villas (many of which are privately owned) that can accommodate larger groups. Make yourself at home inside of their spacious and well-decorated living spaces in shades of green, blue and warm wood. The restaurants, spa, gym and kids’ playroom are also within walking distance from the villas so you can either choose to go by foot if not by golf buggy.

What’s better, suite or villa? Why not both – start in one of the tower’s suites to get a bird’s eye view of the azure ocean and villas underneath, then move to one of the private pool villas to get closer to the action. The tower suites offer a lofty experience that almost feels like you’re on a ship looking out, while the villas really feel like a home away from home with all the space and facilities you need (including kitchen equipment, dining table, sofas, sunbeds, private pool, covered salas and peaceful courtyard).

Dining

Wake up to a huge buffet breakfast spread at Fresh, the all-day dining restaurant at Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang that faces the main swimming pool. There are different stations to suit all tastes and diets, including fresh banh mi and spring rolls, Vietnamese pho, Korean and Japanese cuisine, cold cuts, fruits, eggs, desserts and more.

At Char Grill House closer to the beach, enjoy prime cuts of steak with a strong selection of fine wines for dinner. Open from 5:30pm to 11pm, they’ve got everything from charcuterie boards to beef tartare, tomahawks and whole lobsters on the grill and plenty of sauces and sides to match.

For something more casual, there’s Breeze Beach Bar. Refresh yourself with dishes like pomelo salad, country fried chicken, Hanoi fresh rice noodle, a classic Caesar salad or a BLT sandwich. Open from 11am to 11pm, it’s just what you need to stay sated while you enjoy a lazy day in the sun.

Near the lobby, there’s Biscuit that’s open from 8am to 10pm. Famed for their iced coconut coffee and crowd-fave Korean bingsu desserts, it’s a must-try during your stay for authentic Vietnamese bites. Besides sweet treats, this all-day cafe also serves light bites such as Vietnamese fresh spring rolls, banh mi, Korean steak sandwiches and baked tuna pasta.

Spa and Wellness

Guests who opt in for the spa-inclusive stay at Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang are entitled to one blissful treatment per day at Maia Spa, a huge and sprawling facility with 26 treatment rooms, an indoor heated pool surrounded by daybeds, infrared sauna, steam rooms, yoga studio and fitness centre. With two classes per day (ranging from aerial yoga to regular yoga, sound healing and various types of meditation), guests have plenty of activities to choose from to manage stress and improve their emotional well-being.

What’s great about Maia Spa is how tailored each spa treatment is to each guest. Spa director Vi Tran has over 15 years of experience under her belt and makes sure you’re getting the best treatment for your condition that day, while Sanjay Rawat, the resident wellness master, leads each yoga and wellness class with a gentle, calming energy.

For gym buffs, you’ll be happy to know that there are not one, but two gyms at the resort – one smaller gym at Maia Spa and another larger one called Pulse nearby the swimming pool and beach.
