LUXE x W Hotels: 24 Hours in Bali

In collaboration with W Hotels, we present our updated 24-hour guide to Bali, aka. the Island of the Gods. Whether you’re a sun-tanned surfer, boho babe or fun-lovin’ fam with tots in tow, here’s where to experience the best of Bali.

Start with brekky

Have a car and driver ready to see a cross-section of Bali. Hit Sisterfields near the W Bali for a healthy or hearty brekky, with faves such as smashed avo, açai smoothie bowls and eggs Benedict paired with strong coffee.

After, head to the hills of Ubud for a water purification ceremony at Tirta Empul (Holy Water Temple) where the sacred springs are said to possess curative properties.

Ubud exploration

Over in Ubud, spend a few hours at Parqspace, a versatile, creative community hub for anything from co-working to art, retail and wellness. Then, unleash your inner yogi at The Yoga Barn, where you’ll find everything from yoga, meditation and capoeira to chanting and ecstatic dancing.

Getting hungry? Ask your driver to take you to Warung Babi Guling Pande Egi, an out-of-the-way hidden eat that roasts a delectable suckling pig. This no-frills outdoor eatery, surrounded by rice paddies is well worth the detour.

Shop and spaaah…

Drive down to Canggu for some retail therapy at Cove Island Essentials an airy shop selling a laid-back and eclectic mix of island fashion, homeware, jewellery, antiques and art. Then, take a pit stop for some coffee and snacks at Milk & Madu, the preferred haunt of Canggu’s boho surfer set.

Massages are a must in Bali, so book into Amo Spa which offers a range of wellness services, including body rubs and scrubs, facials, hair and nails. Another must-try is Jari Menari, an all-male masseuse spa offering unique treatments like the four-handed Absolutely Amazing, and the curious Serenading Singing Bowl.

Sunset time

Bali’s sunsets are spectacular, and there is no shortage of prime venues to soak it in, cocktail in hand. Making waves is Café Del Mar the renowned Ibiza beach club that has opened a sprawling Bali outpost just between fellow legendary beach clubs, Finn’s and Potato Head.

For dinner, sultry, plush and well air-conditioned Sangsaka is just the setting for a modern Indonesian feast. The lobster dumplings are a crowd pleaser, as are the wagyu short rib, suckling pig and lamb shoulder.
