LUXE x W Hotels: 24 Hours in Singapore

Singapore might be Asia’s poster child for prim and proper, but it sure knows how to party. Lusciously green, spaciously laid out, refreshingly clean, efficient and easy to get around, you can pack a lot into a day in the Lion City. In our latest edition of #UnleashYourCuriosity, a collaboration with W Hotels, here’s the LUXE way to spend 24 hours in Singapore:

Start at carb heaven

Cab it to Starter Lab and reward yourself with artisanal carbs fresh out of the oven. The signature sourdough bread slathered in homemade mascarpone is delish, the coffee is strong and the place is perf for a late brekkie or early lunch.

Zap over to hipster neighbourhood Tiong Bahru and pop into OliveAnkara for bold printed African textiles. Olive designs Asian-inflected cheongsams, crop-top and skirt sets and signature ‘afromonos’.

Indulge in local eats

Feeling peckish? Tiong Bahru Food Centre has fantastic hawker fare, or if aircon is needed, Wanton Seng’s Eating House is the answer for steaming bowls of wonton noodles to the tune of hip hop beats.

Walk, shop and spa

Onwards to a history tour with a difference at Oh! Stories an immersive, interactive guided walk through old neighbourhoods, starting with Jalan Besar. More nostalgia awaits at Anthony The Spice Maker an ittybitty foodie haunt in Chinatown for things zesty, tangy, hot and peppered.

Round the corner you’ll find good vibes aplenty at The Social Space, a one-stop-shop and café for fair trade goods, refillable household cleaners and personal care products, a hot cuppa and even eco manicures.

By now, your tired soles will be ripe for a rubdown, with OD Wellness a reliably affordable place to get tweaked and kneaded.

Time for tipples

Dress to impress at Set of Six a sultry, tropical lounge flitting with the city’s pretty things. It has a solid food menu alongside cocktails, and a private room for romantic liaisons.

Keep on slinging those drinks at Potato Head Singapore, a gorgeous heritage building turned light n’ lively triumvirate, including whimsical Three Buns burger joint and fairy-lit tiki tippler The Rooftop Garden.

Then, on you go to Appetite, an inventive multi-concept space that’s part chef’s counter, R&D kitchen, gallery and lounge with a groovy record selection. Don’t want the night to end? Take a cab to Mustafa Centre – an always open sprawling labyrinth crammed with an eclectic stash of everything you (n)ever knew you needed.
