Once a tired little street now buzzy hub of food, bev and boutiques, BKK’s soi Ekamai even plays host to NY-native Machine Age Workshop’s first international outpost.
It’s no secret the Thai capital is a hub of fab antiques and homeware, but be prepared for a particularly unique cache when visiting MAW’s red brick up-and-down warehouse. Repping museum-worthy vintage furny and decor from Industrial-era America (circa C.18th to mid C.19th), MAW is your one-stop wormhole to the West’s golden age of manufacturing.
Here you’ll find a huge range of items all available for sale or lease (short or long term). There are myriad character movables like glass-encased wall clocks, metal mail trays, and Edison bulb floor lamps, along with structural pieces including glass-paned double office doors, and even a general store counter bench. Sifting through the nostalgic loot will no doubt leave you hungrier than a yesteryear factory worker, but luckily for you there’s an in-house snack bar serving up a suitably American-tinged menu of eats, like juicy pulled pork in brioche buns and grilled chicken salads. Add a Roots-sourced cuppa joe and you’ll be good to go again!
