EAT FRESH: HOW TO EAT HEALTHY AT HOME AND BEYOND IN HONG KONG

Life Guides-EN.png

Just like the Freshman 15, the Quarantine 15 is a real thing thanks to COVID-19. Between all the banana bread and sourdough starters—not to mention the constant snacking—it definitely hasn’t been easy making the right food choices during lockdown.

While it might feel good to gorge on comfort foods, it’s never been more important to eat healthy in order to boost your immunity. Read on for our healthy eating tips n’ tricks on how to fuel your body right, with tasty takeaway options too.

Eat green and clean

We’ve all heard about the benefits of a plant-based diet, so why not take this opportunity to go green? Plant-based foods have been proven to reduce blood pressure, increase energy levels and prevent disease. There’s no need to make the switch overnight—try adopting a flexitarian diet or going plant-based for just one meal or day a week. Your body (and the environment) will thank you!

Dine consciously

Going green often goes hand-in-hand with organic, fair trade and locally sourced produce, meaning that every dollar you spend goes right back into supporting the local community: mum, pop and kid.

Not exactly a health nut? Look for takeaway meals and pre-packed dinner sets from your favourite restos for an easy, DIY meal at home. And, follow your local diners on social media as they post at-home recipes made from scratch. If you’re ready to ‘kale’ it with your diet, check out these garden grazers and locavore playgrounds in your city:
