Naked Stables Private Reserve: Eco-Chic Moganshan Getaway

Your ticket to an idyllic weekend getaway from Shanghai’s hustle and bustle, coming right up!

No, you silly sausage, LUXE isn’t sending you off to a nudist camp – Naked Stables is a luxury eco-resort and equestrian reserve (and sister to the more rustic Naked Home Village) set in the hills of Moganshan, two and a half hours drive from Shanghai.

Spread across 60 acres of its own secluded valley and surrounded by bamboo forests, tea plantations and farming villages, Naked Stables is about sustainability without sacrificing life’s little luxuries. Opt for a single-room African-inspired Earth Hut, or splash out on a lofty two, three or four bedroom Tree-Top Villa, with floor-to-ceiling windows giving way to unobstructed hillside views, plus a balcony with hot tub, barbecue and dining area. Whichever you choose, all huts and villas come with mod-cons including round-the-clock room service and on-call butlers.

Outside, it’s activity central: choose from horse riding, mountain biking or plain old hiking, before taking a dip in one of the three heated outdoor pools (pack your mink bikini in case it gets nippy). Evenings are reserved for cultural and craft workshops in The Naked Galleries; and when tummies grumble, tuck into organic fare at Afro-Asian restaurant, Kikaboni overlooking the reservoir, or chill by the central Pool Bar and Bistro.

All sounds too hectic for your liking? Why not retreat instead to The Naked Leaf Wellness and Spa Centre, with nine treatment rooms built on stilts hidden amidst the bamboo forest, offering a range of treatments, holistic therapies, yoga, and diet and exercise consultation and regimes. Spa-aahh.
