Lovers of delicious Italian food rejoice! La dolce vita has just arrived in Japan, so treat your palate to a visit…
Sydney’s beloved Fratelli Paradiso has opened its second ever branch – on the 3rd floor of Tokyo’s high-fashion hub Omotesando Hills. From Italian-Aus brothers Enrico and Giovanni Paradiso and partner Marco Ambrosino, this stylish eatery is unbeatable for its honest, simple Italian food with a focus on fresh ingredients, trad family recipes and slick service.
Having earned his pasta stripes at the original Potts Point branch, Japanese exec chef Toshiyuki Nakayasu turns out familiar favourites from lasagne to pasta scampi and calamari Sant’Andrea (fried squid, rocket and balsamic), backed with a fab selection of exclusively natural, global wines. Top-notch produce stars at lunch and dinner, with handwritten signs for specials.
Casual yet sophisticated interiors with sleek, pared-back decor, dark-wood tables and comfy banquettes let food take centre stage. Opt for the dining area – where pasta and bread is made by hand at the open kitchen – or a quieter winebar perch.
Don’t leave without tasting the famous Bottarga Pretzel (a standout from sibling winebar 10 William St in Sydney) and the tiramisu. Salute!
