Regent Hong Kong: Harbourside Haven

When it comes to Hong Kong’s iconic skyline views, it doesn’t get any better than at Regent Hong Kong. Perched along the Avenue of Stars, this harbourfront beaut boasts panoramic views of Victoria Harbour from its ocean-facing rooms and suites – and despite the crowds below – an absolutely serene setting from within.

Location

Entrance of Regent Hong Kong

It might’ve be known as “the dark side,” but Kowloon is no longer in the shadows of Hong Kong island. Located in Tsim Sha Tsui between the Hong Kong Museum of Art and ultra-luxe K11 Musea shopping centre, Regent Hong Kong has returned to its original location where it stood from 1980-2001 as one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious hotels. Taking up prime real estate along the harbour, it’s perfect for leisurely strolls towards Hung Hom or the Star Ferry, and one of the best spots in town to view Hong Kong’s legendary fireworks displays or light shows.

Best of all, getting to Regent Hong Kong from the airport takes approximately 30 minutes by car or a 25-minute train ride on the Airport Express.

Rooms and design

Views from the suite

Designed by famed Hong Kong architect Chi Wing Lo, each of Regent Hong Kong’s 497 rooms and suites are peaceful sanctuaries designed to be your own “personal haven.”

See-through screens

And that they are, with calming details such as sliding semi see-through doors that frame the harbour view, sunken in dark stone bath tubs, simple greige and wooden accents, and luxurious Perricone MD products to boot. And with Dyson hair dryers at the ready, there is zero chance of a bad hair day.

Behind the castle-like doors, the spacious and serene rooms and suites invite you to relax with cloudlike beds that are utterly heavenly to sleep and sink into, plush window-side seating, multiple TVs so that no one gets to channel hog, and leisurely reading materials that encourage you to disconnect from the everyday life.

Dining

Harbourside

Going hungry is not an option at Regent Hong Kong. The huge and expansive breakfast buffet at Harbourside is not for the faint-hearted, nor are their lunch or dinner variations (tip: wear stretchy pants), while the Lobby Lounge is a popular spot for hotel guests and regular folks alike to indulge in pic-perfect afternoon tea sets with the Hong Kong skyline as a backdrop.

For fancier fare, head to Lai Ching Heen for exquisite Cantonese cuisine, The Steak House for – you guessed it – excellent cuts of meat and seafood, Qura Bar for exclusive and rare spirits (and cocktails) paired with elevated Riviera-inspired delights, and Nobu for top-quality Japanese fare from the famed chef, restauranteur and author himself.

Facilities

Regent Hong Kong has one of the largest hotel swimming pools in town, with several infinity plunge pools and jacuzzis facing Victoria Harbour to boot. Choose from cold, warm and warmer or go for a proper swim in the city-facing pool – or simply soak up the sun in one of their many day beds and loungers.

On the same floor, indoors, you’ll find the 24/7 fitness centre, which has everything you need to get your sweat on in style.
