Rosewood Phnom Penh: A Shining Jewel In the City

The first Rosewood Hotel in Southeast Asia opened in 2018, and that was none other than the Rosewood Phnom Penh – setting the bar high for all other Rosewood properties in the region to come. Taking up the top 14 floors of the glittering naga (dragon) shaped Vattanac Capital Tower – one of Cambodia’s tallest buildings to date – it’s the perfect base to explore Phnom Penh from.

Location

The Rosewood Phnom Penh is about an hour’s drive away from the new Techo airport, but once you’re there, most of the city’s sights are close within reach. Overlooking the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, the hotel is minutes away from popular sights such as the Phnom Penh Royal Railway Station, Royal Palace and National Museum, Central Market, Wat Phnom, Central Post Office and more.

LUXE tip: Join the hotel’s private remork tour to access most of these sights in comfort and style.

Check-in takes place at the hotel lobby on the 35th floor, and guests are welcomed by floor-to-ceiling views of the panorama below.

Rooms

The Rosewood Phnom Penh has a total of 175 elegantly appointed rooms and suites from floors 35 to 49 – 37 of them being suites with separate and spacious living areas.

Executive Rooms on floors 25-32 start at 50 square metres with stylish and contemporary decor (hello, bronze foot paperweight and beautifully lacquered details), and are fitted with spacious marble bathrooms that opens up to the bedroom. There, guests can sink into the fluffy king-sized bed or lounge by the window-side seating to soak up the panoramic city views overlooking the city and rivers below.

For even more space to sprawl out, the Mekong, Manor and Rosewood Suites start at 65 sqm and go up to 82 and 95 sqm respectively, with separate plush living rooms to lounge and relax in. Travelling in a bigger group? The Signature Suites at Rosewood Phnom Penh offer plenty of space for two to four guests to luxuriate in – perfect for families and friends who are travelling together.

Dining

From prime cuts of steak to exquisite Chinese cuisine and Japanese izakaya, Rosewood Phnom Penh has a total of eight (count ’em!) restaurants to choose from. Breakfast is served at Brasserie Louis on level 35, which has an all-day menu of French and Cambodian comfort food faves, while the adjacent Living Room and Butterfly Patisseries serves cakes, desserts and chocolates alongside coffee and cocktails.

For Asian cuisine, head to Zhang Liang for Sichuan, Canton and Northern Chinese specialties (where groups can book the private room for one of the largest tables with an electronic lazy Susan we’ve ever seen), or Iza for Japanese robatayaki, sushi and noodles paired with premium bottles of sake.

On level 38, you’ll find Cuts, Phnom Penh’s award-winning steakhouse where guests can indulge in hand-cut meats paired with over 3,000 different wines, then head to Whisky Library one floor down for rare single malts and a wide selection of cigars.

Level 37 is also where you’ll find Sora, Rosewood Phnom Penh’s rooftop bar that’s recognised among the Asia’s 50 Best (#65 to be exact) and the recipient of the Ketel One Sustainability Award in 2025. With sky-high views overlooking the city and live entertainment on most nights, Sora is equally popular among in-house and external guests who are looking for well-made cocktails in a fantastic setting.

LUXE tip: Don’t miss the Sora Martini, a zero-waste cocktail using Rosewood’s very own vermouth, which is made by local distillers using leftovers from the hotel’s kitchen alongside orange peels, pulp and the famed Cambodian Kampot pepper.

Wellness

Work off all that food and drink at the Rosewood Phnom Penh gym – a haven for fitness buffs overlooking the city with state-of-the-art equipment and 24/7 opening hours, just for hotel guests. Don’t forget your swimwear either, as a 22-metre pool is next door to the gym for some sunbathed laps or simply lounging poolside with a few drinks and snacks.

On the same floor, you’ll also find Sense, A Rosewood Spa where you can pamper yourself with treatments that draw from Cambodia’s traditional healing methods and naturopathy, aptly referred to as “Lost Remedies.” There’s also special treatments by luxury mani-pedi specialist, Bastian Gonzalez, should your digits need a buffing or touch-up.

LUXE tip: Try the 90-minute Ancient Angkor Massage for some gentle kneading of the muscles, which features deep breathing techniques, stretching and a guided approach to meditation and relaxation.

What else

There’s no shortage of things to do at Rosewood Phnom Penh, from a zero-waste cooking class at Cuts to a remork (translation: Cambodia’s version of a tuk-tuk) tour through the city’s major sights, or perhaps a leisurely jog by the riverside guided by the hotel’s gym instructor.

Foodies should also mark their calendars for the Rosewood Phnom Penh’s annual Taste of Cambodia festival (last held from 11-14 September 2025) for an exciting culinary journey featuring guest chefs and special menus throughout the week.

The latest edition featured guest master mixologist Takuya Matsumoto from Osaka, Japan for the relaunch of the Nikka Whiskey bar at The Whisky Library, special menus at Cuts by one Michelin-starred Chef Alexis Moko from the acclaimed MOKO in Kyoto, Japan, and a four-hands dinner at Zhan Liang by Chef Teng Kam Seng and his team from the acclaimed one Michelin-starred Lingnan House at Rosewood Guangzhou.

Art lovers will also enjoy the rotating exhibitions at the Rosewood Phnom Penh art gallery on level 35, featuring vibrant works by local artists. See their latest lineup of exhibitions here.
