With more than 2,000 clicks on her odometer, London is one ageing beauty with many a tale to tell, and thankfully, unlike a few of her international counterparts (we’re looking at you, Shanghai), this dolly could hardly be accused of booting out the old and intriguing in favour of the new.
But, there comes a time we all need a spruce up, and London’s history-steeped skyline got a darn glitzy one when the futuristic, Renzo Piano-designed Shard skyscraper came to town, complete with the swanky Shangri-la London taking up residence on the 34th to 52nd floors. Come on then, off we jolly well pop…
Oozing vibey, oriental-inspired tranquility, each commodious chamber is replete with luxurious Frette linens, marble bathroom and floor-to-ceiling windows, plus cheeky in-room binoculars handy for ogling twinkly city and Thames vistas below. Later, Asian fusion bites await at Ting, while an infinity pool is the default summer scenester cocktail den. Just don’t look down!
