Three Fab Hotels in Paris

While there are few places more magical than La Ville Lumière draped in a fluffy coating of snow and twinkling lights, Paris in spring is bloomin’ marvellous, with its buzzy outdoor caffs, riverside scene and longer daylight hours. If you happen to be flitting through the city this season, check into one of these three sensational sleepers.

What: Hôtel de Crillon
Good for: Regal romps

Although the social whirl of Paree is in full swing by April, chances are you’ll be tempted to stay holed-up inside this lavish abode. One of the world’s most famous addresses, de Crillon emerged from its four-year nip/tuck in 2017 all the more dazzling, with eye-watering rates to match.

Elegant chambers awash with original period features riff on C.18th opulence with their taupe-on-taupe damasks and velvet, but keep it modern with discrete tech and luxurious marble ensuites. Up the ante with a stay in a suite or one of the Lagerfeld-designed Grand Appartements and you’ll recline amid OTT, chandie-adorned living rooms and fit-for-a-queen Baldachin beds that would make even Marie Antoinette blush with envy.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s a gleaming, gold-tiled subterranean pool, ritzy Bar Les Ambassadeurs for intimate sips, Michelin-star eats at L’Ecrin, and Brasserie d’Aumont serving delicieux patisserie, best enjoyed in one of two flora-framed outdoor courtyards. Outside, spot The Louvre to the left, the Arc de Triomphe to the right, and phenomenal shopping all around. C’est magnifique.

What: L’Hôtel
Good for: Romantic trysts

A saucy spring sojourn awaits at this diminutive Neo-Baroque love nest where Oscar Wilde spent his last night. Just 20 rooms, generously spread across six floors, are decadently adorned in a jewel-toned stripes-meet-floral chintz and velvet decor; some have teensy terraces.

Should you manage to peel yourself away, there’s a secluded, underground hamman and pool for sensual dips, Michelin-spangled Le Restaurant for creative Gallic morsels on a lush patio-ette, and cocktails at Le Bar, one of the most discrete imbibers in town.

What: Hôtel Fabric
Good for: Party weekends

It’s all about the simple design and prime posi at this former textile factory located in of hipcat hood Upper Marais, where a myriad of hot-right-now eateries and bars rock on until the early hours.

When it comes to bedding down, the bitty pads sway basic but bright with contempo pop colours and prints. Those looking for something a little more spacious can upgrade to one of the apart-hotel style capsules featuring separate sleeping stories, or simply steal away to the Moroccan-style spa for a pampered recovery.
