Three of a Kind: Spanish Jewellery designers

Stylist Lou Stokes spends her days pounding the streets of Madrid seeking out the best fashion finds for her coterie of clients – you’ll find her curated list of local designers and homegrown fashion labels in the LUXE Madrid guide. Here’s Lou’s pick of the crop of Spanish jewellery designers.

Ginger & Velvet

Located on the back streets of the evocative Barrio de las Letras, far from the maddening crowds of Gran Via and Sol, Ginger & Velvet is an industrial-style workshop/store home to Maite García Tejedor’s manifold treasures. Taking inspo from daily life, as well as art, music and literature,  Maite’s collections are eclectic; spanning sleek geometric forms for the ‘Black’ series to the more delicate ‘Romeo & Juliet’. Every single piece tells a story, which makes each ring, necklace or bracelet truly one of a kind, custom is also available. Ginger & Velvet launches two collections a year. Pop into the shop for a browse, or order online.  C / Alameda 4,

Glenda Lopéz

Glenda’s fun, lighthearted and contemporary bod candy is a mixture of art and jewellery. The Valencia School of Art & Design alum crafts individual pieces that are unusual, quirky and made with a sense of humour –mundane everyday items, from chains to legs of Jamon are brought to life in silver and gold. Style-setters will love the oversized signet rings, while kids little and big will go ga-ga for the UFO pendants.

Après Ski

Delicately handcrafted with a vintage aesthetic, Barcelona-based Lucia Vergara’s Après Ski is inspired by geometric designs (the ‘Variations’ collection is akin to a dangling Mondrian), and the flora and fauna of the natural world. A former designer with Barca’s Lydia Delgado and Alianto, Lucia works with natural or recycled materials including gold brass, resin and wood to create a collection that’s naive and romantic, casual and modern.
