Whitney Museum, New York: Mod American Art Bunker

Leave the stillies at home for a closer look at the stunning, 63,000 sq ft glass box iteration of the original American Art bunker, The Whitney Museum.

Formerly located in the UES with a bit of a stiff upper lip, the Whitney has long played host to the at once loved and hated Biennial. Today, however, Whitney is the name on every downtown diva’s lips, thanks to its brand-spanking new situ at the foot of the High Line, in a hip, Renzo Piano-designed MePa monument no less.

Don’t miss the museum’s perf-perched balconies, offering sweeping downtown Manhattan cityscapes, then shimmy to the opposite site of the building for breathtaking floor-to-ceiling Hudson River vistas. Ahh…

Peckish? Glide on down to the G/F for fine diner Untitled, where master chef Michael Anthony prepares a symphony of flavours over which to pontificate the O’Keefes, Pollocks, Hoppers et al. Or for something a little lighter, take bites and cakes at Studio Cafe on the 8/F.
