Yunomori Onsen, Bangkok: Hydro heaven

When in Nippon, we never leave without a good ol’ soak in the onsen – zen-sational retreats of bath and gardens. Now, lucky BKK locals can get the full hot spring experience without the ticket to Tokyo. Spa-aaah…

Ditch the fluoro-lit mall galore and make haste to the pinewood n’ bamboo haven of Japanese sento-styled hydrotherapy. Start with a spin in the ‘soda’ spa, said to promote blood circulation, then shimmy through the jet, cold, teak baths, pausing for a scenic moment in the outdoor garden bath, before winding down in the mineral water onset.

Post dip, extend the pleasure by checking into a treatment room for aromatherapy, reflexology, or Thai massage, and once you’ve been rinsed and rubbed smoother and softer than a baby’s bott, take your well-deserved retox at the on-site izakaya Dontaku, or casj-chic Gastronom bistro & bakery.

It’s worth noting that despite its location in the hot n’ heavy Mango, Yunomori observes Japanese etiquette strictly – so that means no ogling once you whip off your cossie, Cora.
